Why the name AbsintheDevil?
Absinthe was once a forbidden fruit here in America. Just as Lucifer (more precisely the Sumerian God Enki) offered the apple or forbidden knowledge to Eve, we offer hard-to-find implements to enjoy absinthe and share knowledge about REAL absinthe. We seek to service aficionados of true absinthe with our hand-picked selection of absinthe glasses, spoons and fountains. Secondly, we endeavor to be a bringer of knowledge and demystify the many falsehoods surrounding absinthe.
The name AbsintheDevil also gives a nod towards two esoteric topics of interest of the owner of the company. The first being absinthe and the second being comparative mythology and true origins of religious figures. The name is solely the amalgamation of two particular interests of the founder of the company. Plus, AbsintheEnki doesn’t have the same ring as AbsintheDevil.
We can assure the name of this store by no means seeks to sensationalize absinthe or attach evil overtones to absinthe. Read too much into it at your own peril.
Do you sell absinthe?
No. We do not sell bottles of absinthe. The sale of real absinthe was once verboten in the USA but now it is availabe in most major cities.
Where can I get absinthe?
We not recommend specific vendors. Our only advice to avoid any store that promotes a high wormwood or thujone content product. Also avoid any store that recommends or promotes the “Czech” method of lighting absinthe on fire.
What brand of absinthe do you recommend?
Absinthe (read: real absinthe) is a matter of taste. We typically like anything distilled by Claude-Alain Bugnon and Jade. The world of artisanal absinthe is moving at a fast clip so we encourage you to sample as many as you can and formulate your own opinion according to your own tastes. Just buy the real stuff. We recommend you do research and let your taste buds be your guide.
Will absinthe ever be legalized in the USA? <dated question>
Yes, and it has!
Do you ship to Canada?
Sadly, we do not. Our experience getting orders through Canadian Customs (and the exorbitant duty and customs broker fees they attach) has not been a pleasurable one for us or our customers.
Do you accept phone orders?
We are primarily a web operation. Our systems and manpower is focused with this in mind. Should you like to place a phone order, please call 1-877-807-1091. Please leave a message should our staff be unable to take your call. Please include your name, phone number and the best time to reach you.
Have a question not answered here?
Send us an email info@absinthedevil.com. We can also be reached via the phone but we prefer email communications. We’ve found email to be a more effective way to reach out customers 24x7.
